Wool of the Andes

This value pack contains 10 full-sized balls of Wool of the Andes in Cobblestone Heather, 1100 yards (~1000 m) total:

  1. 100% Peruvian Highland wool
  2. US: worsted weight, CYC #4/medium, UK: Aran, AUS: 10 ply
  3. 110 yards (~100 m)/50g (~1.75 oz) ball
  4. Recommended for US 6 (4 mm) to US 9 (5.5 mm) size needles and US I (5.5 mm) to US K (6.5 mm) hooks
  5. Care instructions: hand wash and dry flat

Our classic worsted wool yarn is spun and plied carefully to achieve a wonderfully balanced twist. A sturdy yet soft yarn with excellent stitch definition and heirloom durability. Peruvian sheep are a cross between Corriedale (for sturdiness) and Merino (for softness), producing a strong fiber with an excellent softness quotient for a wide variety of uses. For the sweater you’ll wear a thousand times or the blanket you’ll use every night, this Peruvian wooly wonder will never let you down.

Really good product. I was sad that it was going to come a month after ordering (I live in South Korea), but it actually ended up coming in a week early. The weight and size is accurate and I’m really satisfied with the quality. I was looking to make a hat from a pattern that requires 100% wool, but I didn’t want to commit fully to a 100% wool because of the price. This is good yarn and is easy to work with. However, beware with the color selection. The light blue and tan color are much darker in person than in the color. If you are looking for a set that has specific colors, prepare for darker than expected. If you just want a good selection of yarn, this is a good set for the price.

I am so happy with this wool and it is 100% wool. I bought these to make wool dryer balls. I Like color so I wanted these to be pretty beside functional. The skeins are smaller but still seem to be the cheaper way to go. Here’s a hint to make a less expensive dryer ball – use that old wool sweater and cut off a chunk and start wrapping your yarn around that. This way I used one skein per ball and ended up with 10 beautiful dryer ball. I love these colors which are in soft heather colors. As for the softness of the yarn, it is wool but one of the more softer wools. This yarn 100% fit my needs and will be purchasing more in the future.

This yarn is one of the most inexpensive 100% wool yarns I have found. I’ve used Wool of the Andes for years because it felts so nicely. Knit Picks makes some other really nice and fairly inexpensive yarns. I made a pair of socks years ago out of their sock yarn and they are still in good shape. The washable wool yarn is another good choice for just about everything from sweaters to mittens.
